Most people would like to be the best possible version of themselves. Everyone has a different concept of how they really are, making the best version a difficult concept to define. The best version of yourself is the happiest version of yourself. Once you determine who you want to be, address the things that are keeping you from being that person, and invest time and energy into becoming the person you would like to be.
1. Be Yourself
Love yourself and be grateful for what you have and all that you have achieved. Look back and see how far you have come. By taking stock of your achievements and recognising existing positive character traits you will have a clearer picture of what goals to aim for.
2. Nurture Your Talents
If you have a talent, keep working to develop it. If you would like to be happier, do things that make you happy. Be willing to learn, practise, improve and even to make mistakes from time to time.
3. Stop And Smell The Roses
Look up. Learn to forgive and laugh at the mistakes you make along the way. Each day, find something to feel enthusiasm for, and appreciate the smaller things in life.
4. Surround Yourself With Positive People
Focus on your friends who support you and spend less time with friends who are negative and unproductive. Be a source of positivity for those around you.
5. Live Minimally
Live minimally with only what you need around you. Getting rid of the excess is not only liberating, but will enable you to focus on what is good and right in your life. It may be that the excess in your life is what is standing in the way of becoming who you would like to be.
6. Be Prepared
Eliminate things that stress you and slow you down. Aim to be one step ahead instead of one step behind. Create routines that promote order and make you feel in control such as preparing for the next day the night before. Set out your clothes and make your lunch. Stop procrastinating and get work or chores done before any deadlines.
7. Live In The Moment
Mindfulness is the state of active, open, intentional attention to the present. Mindfulness is being with your thoughts as they are; neither grasping them, nor pushing them away. Instead of letting your life go by without living it, awaken to the experience. Breathe, and welcome the stillness and calm that it brings.
8. Learn How to Say "No"
Be realistic about what you can accomplish each day and learn how to say "no" to things you don't actually have time for, or that don't make you happy. Saying "no" to things will give you more time and energy to focus on what makes you feel good.
9. Invest In Yourself
Be sure to take care of yourself physically and emotionally. Eat well, get enough rest, exercise regularly and drink moderately. Make time for fun. Don't ignore health issues - address them as they present themselves. Without looking after yourself first and foremost, you will not be in a position to help others.
No matter how frustrated, troubled or dispirited you may feel, everyone is extraordinary, and has much to offer the world at large.
